Kia’s answer to the Toyota Prius is heading to Geneva after its official reveal at the Chicago Auto Show. The UK press have already had an exclusive look too - here are some of the pictures from that event.

It's a compact crossover with the latest Kia design cues, including the signature radiator grille and swept-back headlights, but it's a little more conservative at the rear.

The Niro has a traditional interior layout, which is a good thing. Here are some more pictures I found.

From the outside, you wouldn’t think the Niro is a hybrid, as it doesn’t have the usual wedge-style looks of the Toyota Prius and new Hyundai Ioniq.

The Niro’s headline figures of 89g/km and 73.6mpg may be some way off the new Prius’ 70g/km and 94mpg, but then the other important number, price, should be some way below the Toyota’s £23,295 starting figure. Kia is targeting a starting point of around £18,000.
