So... a year to go until it will be time for me to decide what car to get as the replacement for my current Niro 2 HEV.

Since we fairly recently bought a Ford Kuga which can be used for family trips, if necessary. We also had solar panels installed at home a while back, which don’t output huge amounts of power in winter but deliver up to 2.5kW in summer.

My normal trip to work is 11 miles each way, with no charging points at the office, but I expect to also be fairly regularly doing a 140 mile round trip to a different office site.

I am in two minds, therefore:

- PHEV to cover all options but probably only just about do my normal commute in EV mode
- take the plunge and go for a fully electric option, which would probably (hopefully!) have sufficient range for my longer round trip, but probably wouldn’t be feasible for use on the road trip holidays we do 2-3 times a year.

Any thoughts? Are there other options? (Not diesel!) Or any new models due to come out over the next year?
