Kia Niro 2017 hybrid.

The red oil light has started to come on occasionally (less than 60 seconds over a 90 min drive)

The level of oil and colour looks fine, and the temp doesn't seem like an issue, so perhaps it's a pressure issue?

I have asked the Kia dealership if it's still under warranty, but they want £288 just to investigate, which seems like a lot!

Anyone have a similar problem, and if so what was the resolution? Thanks for any advice/insight

A red oil light in a Kia Niro indicates that the oil pressure or level is low, or the oil temperature is too high:

Are you sure the level is up to the full mark on the dipstick? On other cars, if the level is a bit low the light can come on going round corners, as the oil slops in the sump.
You may well be out if warranty as the car is 7 years old. Check it's date of first registration. If it is still, not quite 7, insist on it being carried out under warranty. If it is , in fact, 7+ find a non franchised garage with a good reputation, they will undoubtedly charge a lot less than a dealer. (search for Kia specialists in your area).
Good luck!

This is the oil level which seems over the limit, if anything. I bought the car in 2020 so would the 7 years apply from then, or from 2017?

I have another garage willing to look, and they suspect the sensor, so that may be the first port of call.

Thanks for the advice so far!

Well done, you confounded that theory of mine. It was only a guess.
The Kia 7 year warranty is from the date of first registration and can be passed to subsequent owners. So it depends when it was first registered. Check the V5c. If it is still within 7 years you can insist that the dealer does it with no cost to yourself.
If it is 7+ then I would suggest you get the other garage to have a look.
Good luck!
