Re: Reviving the dead.

Now I don't use my car much (working from home), the battery goes dead in 1.5-2 weeks, which is a right faff, because I have the older model requiring a jump start. The first couple of times I even did that by climbing through the car into the boot to get to the battery, before I remembered there ar...

Re: Trickle charging a Niro hybrid?

I've only been driving to the shops once a week for the last month or so, and on Wednesday the car wouldn't start. First it told me to use the key to push against the stop-start button. When I did that the system check started as normal, but then it said "Stop immediately! Check brakes". L...

Re: Opening boot

Yes, Same here. My dealer swears that all the doors open when the driver's door is opened in this scenario, but it's not the case - as you say, you need to press the unlock button.

Re: Niro 2 or Niro 3

I have the standard 18" wheels and had not noticed any harsh road noise. That having been said, in winter I switch to Dunlop Winter Sport 5 205/50 R17 93H XL M+S and at lower speeds (say up to about 30mph) these are significantly quieter, despite the M+S tread. Of course they are narrower, so h...

I've not experienced any issues simply because it's an automatic.

Re: Driving tips to charge battery better.

I think the key to getting the HEV into EV mode is the tap on the brakes or coasting to reduce speed by 1-2mph. I use cruise control all the time after a quick coast. It helps me stick to the speed limit 🙂 In one of the German forums I think someone had a look at the OBD2 data and worked out that re...

Re: Towing

As per one of my other posts, I have the towing option, mainly because that was the easiest way of getting the towbar fitted for a bike carrier. The option includes uprated brakes and cooling (of what, I am not entirely sure) so it is not simply a case of adding a tow bar. In Germany they are very s...

Re: Can I update the sat nav

You can update the database maps, which are based on TomTom, but car satnavs maps are notoriously slow to catch up.

Re: Minor irritation with Niro

Washer nearly empty warning tells you just after you've set off. Now, from the days when you had only a light or nothing at all, that may have been enough, but in these days of on-board computers it should be possible to tell you just before you leave the car - after all, the head unit stays on afte...
