Re: Kia HEV 2023 model

The 12 volt battery on a 72 plate HEV is part of the main lithium-ion battery, but slightly separate if that makes sense. The HEV and the EV have this arrangement, but oddly the 72 plate PHEVs like mine have a separate lead-acid battery in the boot at the back. It's on the right as you look into the...

Re: Niro 2 PHEV scheduled charging

I must have misread the 3s as 5s. I have just looked again at the Energy Information screen now that I have used the battery up. At 16% battery charge and 0 miles electric power, it says 3hr 10m for 7KW and 3hr 45 min for 3KW.
Thanks for pointing out my mistake.

Re: Niro 2 PHEV scheduled charging

I got the information from a KIA website: https://www.kia.com/uk/electric-hybrid-cars/charging-and-range/charging-at-home/ and from a screen on my car called Energy Information. The website has a table of charging times for different KIA models. It gives 2 hours 55 minutes for a Niro PHEV on a 7KW c...

Re: Niro 2 PHEV scheduled charging

Phew it's not just me. I have found several other people with the same problem on other forums. Seems like KIA know about the problem and are either unable or unwilling to fix it... It seems to happen only on Niro 2 PHEVs. Since I am using the 3 pin plug in charger, I have got round the problem by u...

Niro 2 PHEV scheduled charging

Is it just me or is there something odd going on with the scheduled timing for charging? When I set up the car to charge overnight on my low rate electricity, sometimes it resets one of the times to 12.00 am, and it doesn't charge or it starts charging on peak rate. I've managed to charge at the rig...

Re: Oil warning light - Solved

The guys at TMS KIA Hinckley have found the fault!. They managed to get the problem to show at the workshop and were able to diagnose a faulty module. From what I understand, this is an electronic module that handles the warning light. Now replaced under warranty. No more red light, less stress. Wel...

Oil warning light

Kia Nero self-charge 66 reg Has anyone had an oil warning light coming on intermittently? It comes on after about 5 to 10 minutes, when the engine has warmed up I guess, and will go out when the battery is powering the car. It will go on and off randomly and has got worse, that is, it does it for lo...

Re: Car starter external batteries

I believe that the American version of the Niro does not have a separate 12v battery, but has a bit of the main lithium battery as a 12v auxiliary battery. That explains the differences noted in the emergency responder's document - which was for the US model. On that model, you can recharge the auxi...

Re: Flat Battery

Nothing to report. No more incidents. 15000 miles now, and I've had the car 11 months.
No word from the dealer, but I haven't been back to them so I guess they've just forgotten about it.
