Try spraying WD40 ( or similar ) around the seal. I used to use it on my old Chysler Avenger. Stops moisture penetration. Not used WD40 on any of my cars in the last 10 years, as the doors open without any problem in the cold.

Hi Niroal, Thank you for your advice. Looks like I am heading towards a PHEV, rather than a HEV.
