Re: PHEV driving modes
Hi Rassilon, have a read of the recent thread in the Technical Section on the driving modes. The early pages in the full owner manual also help to explain how the car operates in each mode. Also, if you have the 'energy flow' graphic on screen as you drive you will see how the car transitions betwee...

Cannot charge PHEV
Few days ago the car would not charge - no warnings on dashboard and charger display normal, but the charger went to 'standby' after about 15 seconds. I could hear a clicking sound around the charge door/socket area. Tried repeatedly to charge but failed each time. Searched on here and found reports...

Re: Difference between PHEV Auto and Hybrid mode
It does take some thought to understand how the PHEV works (took me quite a while) - the owners manual can help here (H3). Basically the PHEV is set up to deliver the lowest operating cost and the cost of the electricity to charge the car is almost always less than the equivalent petrol cost. It cos...

Re: Screen display on sat nav
The yellow dots are 'crumbs' left along previous satnav route(s) that could be followed in reverse order. They can be turned off in settings.

Re: Niro PHEV: 15000 mile view
Unfortunately I've not checked the electricity bills too closely and don't have a smart meter, just know that it's a bit higher. Wish there was a way of measuring it directly....

Niro PHEV: 15000 mile view
I thought I'd share a few results and thoughts on my 2017 Niro PHEV, now having completed 15k miles in the car (16.3k total). Economy: 113.25 mpg overall, measured brim to brim over 19 months of ownership. Slightly better in summer months, worse now heating being used. A mix of 30-40 mile journeys a...

Re: PHEV recall items - outcomes
Hmm! That's not good. They should speak to Kia at Weston-s-mare, they cured my noise. I hope you have a loan car whilst this is going on! It perhaps begs the question that either the Niro rear suspension is 'delicate' or that the Kia repair recall work method induces the noise problem. Has anyone el...

Re: PHEV recall items - outcomes
John, I contacted the KIA garage that did the recall work and they came to check the car over. With no obvious issues they provided a loan car and took my PHEV away to investigate. Apparently a shock absorber had failed and they needed to get parts from Germany. Car collected about 10 days later - r...

Re: Regen braking and petrol engine battery recharge rate in PHEV
Over 5000+ miles I've got to understand my PHEV better. Clearly there are many factors affecting battery recharge, however I travel up and down a certain hill several times a week and got to know the numbers.... It's a climb of about 300m, a long, gentle incline in one direction, shorter but steep t...

Re: New to kia
I'm intrigued by the 'Which?' emissions comments - do they declare what these higher emissions levels are? I cannot locate the data, but suspect as h2onorth say that it is likely dues to frequent 'cool' engine starts. Niro is still a brilliant car.....
