One thing i have tried a few times with success , is just before descending down a steep hill popping it into `Sport Mode` and using the gears to basically slow the car as you would , so the car is quite revvy , but your not actually using the accelerator or any fuel , puts more charge in than just ...

I dont really mind too much about the heating/engine running etc , but why didnt they just put a heated front windscreen in the car ?? That wouldve satisfied me

Re spare wheels, I had a bad experience in France a couple of years ago where a tyre was ripped. No way a can of squirt would have worked, but the Merc had a spacesaver spare which enabled us to complete that day's travel, and then spend the next day finding a new, high speed tyre. I have done about 22 miles overall today , and done it all in HEV mode and am up to about 50mpg from the initial 22.4 , so just assuming that the cold start used the majority of the petrol , also this was all start/stop city driving.

Just wondering how some of the guys who have new phevs are getting on with the HEV mode consumption . Where did you guys get the info of when the car was first turned on ? Someone mentioned it , ive played with all the setting but couldnt find it.
