Re: First Impressions of Niro 2
Further to my previous question about how the HEV performs; we now know. Test drove one today (Niro 3) paying special attention to the response at road junctions and negotiating roundabouts. No hesitation or gear hunting. My wife described it as like driving our electric car, i.e. it just goes, no f...

Re: First Impressions of Niro 2
Hello Alan We test drove a Hyundai Ioniq PHEV today and was quite impressed. The key feature, as far as my wife was concerned, was the electric style take off when negotiating junctions, i.e. no hesitation as the automatic gearbox decides whether to select 1 or 2. How does the HEV perform in this si...

Re: Niro Seat height
Hi JimT We tried the Ioniq and the Niro back to back on Saturday for access and its the Niro that won hands down. I suspect my wife prefers the Ioniq. We are test driving an Ioniq PHEV shortly to see if the electric only mode suits her. She loves her Renault Zoe but the PCP runs out on that next yea...

Re: Niro Seat height
Hi Having measured the seat heights of the Yeti and Zoe they are remarkably close at approximately 68 cm, so a seat height of 64 cm with the modification, improvement though it is, is a disappointment. That said, its not just seat height, its headroom above the seat in the door way, door opening ang...

Re: Adaptive cruise control
Is the brake light circuit activated by a microswitch under the brake pedal (common method on old cars) or by a brake fluid pressure switch? In the later case I would expect the brake lights to function whatever actuates the brakes, but regenerative braking alone wouldn't do. (Of course I'm not taki...

Re: Niro Seat height
Thanks for the extra information and the tip about not releasing all the bolts. I think there's a bit of a wait for the PHEV version so no hurry. In a couple of weeks time we will be test driving an Ioniq PHEV to get some early experience of how it works. I suspect it will be too low for comfort for...

Re: Niro Seat height
Hi AlanHo Brilliant! Just what I might need to do. I really want a seat height which is close to that of my current Yeti, and it is one of the reasons I'm looking at the Niro rather than the Ioniq. However I raise the seat height I need the headroom to allow me to do it. Two questions, if I may: a) ...

Re: Niro 2 PHEV?
Hi niroal The cost of the PHEV will be compared with a long range battery electric and the cost of running two cars, one electric (local trips) and one petrol (longer trips. away from motorway charging points). One insurance and servicing cost vs two etc. At present a PHEV is looking cheaper than a ...

Niro 2 PHEV?
Hi Having run two cars, a Renault Zoe and a Skoda Yeti we are looking at a Kia Niro PHEV as a replacement for both. Will be following experiences here to get an impression of owning the Kia Niro hybrid. Most of our use will be electric on local journeys recharging from our solar at home. Just occasi...
