The 12v battery is kept charged by the main HV battery if battery saver+ is enabled. So I can't see why you would want to bother, unless you rarely use the car and only charge it very infrequently. Manual p6-16 says initial level 1 for Normal and Sport mode, level 2 for the two Eco modes. I don't drive an EV but hope it helps.

It's widely reported in the motoring press, search E10 v E5 on Google. The government says the difference in mpg is around 1%, so we can take that with a pinch of salt.
