Re: Petrol consumption in EV mode
Even though you have the AC off, it sounds like you have the heating on. Even if none of the lights are illuminated on the display, the heater can operate until the "off" button is pressed. If the windscreen isn't misting up, then I tend to turn the seat heater on and the cabin heater off ...

Re: What Niro to choose?
Some thoughts on the PHEV which I would also suggest is the better choice given your commuting distance, if you can find one at the right price.....I agree that buying new does not make economic sense - but that is doubly true for the PHEV, as you would be hard pressed to recover the difference in p...

Re: Fuel Consumption (PHEV)
Imagine what a petrol car would do on a 2 mile journey if you've spent 10 minutes stationary to defrost. I Guess it will be about the same as running the petrol engine of the Niro for 10 minutes to defrost, and then using it for the 2 minute journey to keep the cabin de-iced. If Renault could provi...

Re: Fuel Consumption (PHEV)
One of the reasons most people get a PHEV is so that they don't create pollution on those low mile trips. Long trips you are better of with an HEV or even a diesel. I think that Kia have made a serious mistake by not including a heat pump. After all if you are only doing a handful of miles, on a tri...

Re: Fuel Consumption (PHEV)
Akula, I know that engines loosen up with use, but your consumption seems excessive for heating only. My PHEV has now done 3100 miles, but I've only had it for the last 1200 and I'm still trying to work out how much fuel it takes to heat the car. I rarely have passengers in the back, and like pjm575...

Re: Is Kia customer service always rubbish ?
Tower Hill Kia in Chipperfield (Kings Langley) seem fine so far. The salesman (Chris) was laid back, were happy for me to take a test drive unaccompanied, and weren't phased when I arrived with a load of luggage to see how much of it the boot would accommodate. When I said I wasn't sure about the ca...

Re: Best and Worst Thing About Your Niro
KIA Assist in conjunction with the RAC has the loan tyre option. If the tyre is beyond a tyre repair using the foam kit the RAC will loan you a universal wheel to enable you to get to the nearest tyre service centre for replacement. Thanks for that info. I was unaware of this. That at least will pr...

Re: New to Niro 4 Hybrid
The only rattles I get are from the rear seatbelts (buckles against hard plastic). I tend to keep them buckled up even when not carrying passengers. Otherwise my car is silent apart from tyre/road noise (with the occasional intrusion of the ICE).

Re: Best and Worst Thing About Your Niro
Still happy with my PHEV - minor irritation that I need to run the ICE to demist the car - even though the blower is so effective that at this time of year it only takes a few seconds to demist- not long enough for the ICE to actually generate any heat.....and lack of a spare wheel is always a conce...

Re: Hello
Its been a quiet few days on the forum with few posts, so I thought I'd summarise my thoughts so far on my PHEV. I've had the car for just over 3 weeks now, and am happy so far. One niggle over recharging due to it not sensing properly when the flap was opened - requiring a bit of metal in the flap ...
