Re: SATNAV speed camera warning

I believe that if you pass a camera that's not on the system, you can press the camera button at the left of the Satnav screen to report it. You have to have the car connected to your mobile phone via a mobile hotspot. Similarly you can press a button to report a false camera warning as not being th...

Re: New First Edition

I managed to fit my old dashcam to the Niro today. I have a Transcend Drive Pro 200 with a suction cup window mount, and I was able to fit it to the top of the windscreen to the left of the main mirror. It's not a perfect view, but it's unobtrusive. I got a 5m USB mini power lead and tucked it into ...

Re: Voice recognition

This happens to me too. According to page 2 of this document from Kia, having Android Auto enabled will disable regular voice recognition. I assume it's the same for Carplay. http://www.kia.com/us/k3/content/media/downloads/technology/android-auto/android_auto_guide.pdf I wonder if you disable them ...

Re: New First Edition

I have to say, the Niro's ECO default mode and the Sport mode are like Jekyll and Hyde in their differences, and I like it. If you only ever drove in ECO mode, you would be forgiven for thinking the car was sluggish. Even giving quite a lot of throttle, the car doesn't seem to want to accelerate bey...

Re: New First Edition

As with other hybrids, the Niro appears to be at its best in town rather than on the motorway. I will be doing my commute to work tomorrow where the maximum speed along the A40 into London is 40mph. I expect to easily beat that mpg too. EDIT: I did my commute this morning and was slightly dismayed t...

Re: New First Edition

The main thing to note with hypermiling is to drive as if you've got no brakes... That means gentle acceleration and always looking up the road to see if traffic is slowing down and lifting off early rather than braking at the last minute. When you have to brake, do it early and gently to use the re...

Re: New First Edition

I love it so far... I need to spend a bit more time getting used to the Sat Nav. The ride is much firmer than my old Mercedes GL but the damping is better - there's less bouncing. I've already turned off the convenience seat moving on power off as it was bugging me. I prefer the driver's seat to sta...

Re: SATNAV speed camera warning

I'm curious to see how up to date the speed camera alerts are compared with the free Waze app that I use up to now. I pick my First Edition car up next Monday and Android Auto was a big selling point to me and convinced me to go for the Niro instead of a Prius. I'm a beta tester for Waze so should h...
