Re: Brake Pads Wear
So it looks likely, as with all modern cars, that the discs will wear thin first, worn out by the harder asbestos free pads. I wonder what the expected life of the discs will turn out to be? Hopefully quite good with all that regenerative braking?

Re: Fuel consumption
If you have the PHEV version can you switch on the heated seats and demist whilst still hooked up to the recharging station? If so you can pre warm the car and still set off with a full charge in the battery?

Re: Fuel consumption
Thanks Suman, once upon a time I had a VW Karman Ghia with a 1600cc aircooled engine. The only time the heating ever worked properly was when it wasn't cold! Might as well have been the cabrio version. So a heated seat and steering wheel sounds fine as long as you have a warm jacket and bobble hat a...

Re: Fuel consumption
Thanks Suman, from that description I think I could live with that, is the aircon working in climate control mode? Another thought, do the heated seats work in EV mode , if so that could well mitigate against the lack of other heating, had that feature on my last car and very handy, puts the heat ju...

Re: Fuel consumption
So as I understand it from this thread there is no heating available without the engine running. But can you run the aircon without the engine and does that work satisfactorily to demist? In a pure electric cars I understand that whilst plugged in overnight to recharge you can set the car to demist ...

Re: Insurance
I have posted on another thread about group ratings. These are set by Thatcham an insurance funded crash centre founded in 1969 and highly respected. They get their hands on every new car model to take it apart and work out the likely repair costs. Having done this for over 40 years they have built ...

Re: Euro Niro Safety Rating
Yes tricky, Thatcham has been keen on promoting safety features like these. Reduces the risk of a shunt and injury claims, however if someone hits you in a car park and clears off the repair bill goes up as cars get more compicated. Thatcham can but evaulate a car as it is presented. It will take ti...

Re: Euro Niro Safety Rating
Group ratings for cars are assigned by Thatcham, the insurers research centre at would you believe it Thatcham near Newbury. The ‘4’ has an insurance group rating of 12, the ‘3’ has a group rating of 14 so the advisary group ratings compiled by Thatcham do reflect the benefits of autonomous braking,...

Re: Heated mirrors?
It was the same on my Hyundai IX35. The switch is I believe on a timer so it wiil turn off itself off after a few minutes. Spiders like living in the space behind the mirror, must enjoy the warm up in the morning.
