Re: Pre Purchase Info
I don't have a PHEV but my understanding is that after a full charge the car will run on battery alone for the first approx. 30 miles - after which it becomes a standard HEV and will use engine and sometimes battery power. One caveat is that the engine provides heat for the car's heating system so w...

Re: Considering buying the phev
I toyed with idea of swapping my Niro 2 ADAP for the PHEV model. I do about 10,000 miles per year, half of which are on an average of 25 x 200 mile long journeys and the other half on urban roads. My current Niro has averaged 60.7 mpg over its first 11300 miles. This is an accurate figure using the ...

Re: Lane Keep Assist
The LKAS seems to be inconsistent on my car. I almost always need to guide the car manually through right hand bends to prevent it running over the line on the left - but rarely need to guide the car round left hand bends. It is also ineffective when the road is wet and you are driving into the sun ...

Re: When to use HEV setting rather than EV ?
I don't have the PHEV version but it seems to me that in HEV setting the car will strive to maintain the battery at full charge - just in case you are not able to charge it from the mains at your destination. Hence you will not necessarily get 30 miles without petrol. In EV mode you will get your 30...

Re: Don't have and don't want a smartphone !
I put a Three network 12GB data only SIM in my car last March and have used less than half of it. It cost about £30 so works out at £3 per month which I am happy with https://www.amazon.co.uk/Three-Mobile-Pay-Broadband-Data/dp/B01CMD4VKC/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1523217392&sr=8-4&keywords=...

Re: Rattle
I have taken mine out. It serves little purpose. The tinted widows make it difficult for someone to see into the boot and it is unnecessary weight for the car to lug around

Re: Delivery tomorrow
My Niro 2, first thing in a morning and again after it has been parked for a couple of hours, always starts the engine and keeps it running until the water temperature reaches 90C. Even when running in EV mode. Hence for the first few miles of each journey the engine runs anyway - albeit at lower po...

Re: Engine oil increasing
One possible reason is an injector sticking open when the engine is shut down. There will still be residual pressure in the common rail containing petrol vapour. When the engine stops - if an injector is open, the vapour will discharge into the cylinder and condense into liquid. It can then trickle ...

Re: Satnav updates
The speed limit display on my Niro is not to be trusted. It is frequently out of date. For example a main road near me used to have a 50 mph limit - this was reduced to 40 mph almost 3 years ago when we moved house.
My car still shows 50 mph.

Re: Steering wheel locks
Surely the point of a keyless system is that you don't have to faff about with keys "as long as they're in there somewhere". Bit pointless therefore having a key operated steering lock. If the device is to serve only as a deterrent - then hook it on but don't lock it. You still have keyle...
