Re: Economy??
Many seem to have been delivered with the units set to US gallons. So that setting is worth checking. Otherwise, I believe that it takes a couple of thousand miles for the engine to loosen up so I expect your economy will improve significantly by the summer. Check your tyre pressures. The cold weath...

Re: Kia Dealers.. Good..Bad ..or Indifferent?
I think that Kia dealers cover the whole gamut from awful to excellent. I don't have any experience with Chalkes, but so far my limited interactions with my local dealer - TowerHill (near Kings Langley, Herts) have been only positive. Can I suggest you try the other forum ... https://www.kiaownerscl...

Re: Niro Wheels
Actually, the plug-in version comes with 16" wheels. The 18" are standard on the 4 and an option on the others. The 16" are an option on the 4, giving significantly improved MPG. So, all the wheels on the hybrids are fully interchangeable. Although the 18s put more rubber on the road,...

Re: New to forum
Gasoline Direct Injection operates at high pressure, injecting directly into the cylinder. This gives much better control, power, economy and lower emissions than a more common (until recently) Multipoint Injection system. Multipoint injection operates at low pressure, and is injected via the rail a...

Re: New to forum
Apparently GDi stands for "Gasoline Direct Injection" to differentiate it from multipoint injection.

Trip computer and long term Fuel Economy Calculation
On previous cars, where the trip computer has computed 2 trips, I have used one for current, and the other for the very long term. The long term calculation of mpg has been stable and reliable. On the PHEV the most recent trips are stored in the trip history, so I disabled the mpg reset on fill-up a...

Re: EV mileage and noise
So you have 3 separate issues. 1. Reducing indicated mileage in EV mode are probably due to use of the heating as has been suggested in the other replies. If you turn the heating off, when in EV mode the car should be almost silent - a slight whine, plus road/wind noise if travelling faster, and if ...

Re: Hi - and will a Niro PHEV cope with weeks or months of non-use?
That is a really good question. I remember being shocked some years ago when I discovered that a Lexus Hybrid would have its battery warranty invalidated if it wasn't driven for a number of weeks. The Niro handbook doesn't have any cautions in that area. All it has to say is BATTERY (PLUG-IN HYBRID)...
