Re: Sat-nav oddities

Yes, Android Auto gives you a whole new navigation system based on Google Maps (or even Waze if you've installed it). Now you have up to 3 different satnavs to choose from :-)

I much prefer using Waze to the google maps or the built-in Tom Tom satnav

Re: Sat-nav oddities

There is a Kia Connect App that detects the car via bluetooth and auto switches the hotspot. It works well so long as you're not using Android Auto.

Re: Sat-nav oddities

If you have android auto on the phone, you need to plug it into the USB socket next to the two 12v charger sockets. A short cable with a 90degree usb connector at the phone end is helpful for this. Once it's plugged in, the Android Auto icon should appear on the car's home screen. Tap that and you'r...

Re: Phone wireless charging

My Galaxy S7 also gets very hot too. I've turned off the wireless charging since I plug the phone in anyway to use Android Auto.

Re: Fuel

36psi is the cold temperature, ideally set when the car has not run for at least 4 hours. In use, expect it to rise to 39psi or more.

I haven't yet had the TPMS alarm go off. I expect it might when a tyre pressure drops into the low 20s, if it's similar to other cars I've owned with such a system.

Re: Tyres Pressure, 18”

It's 36psi all round on my First Edition with 18" wheels. The recommended pressures are listed in the driver's door frame.

Re: Fuel

The car is sensitive to tyre pressures. Last week I suddenly found my average fuel economy drop to 45mpg. Checking the tyre pressures, they had dropped from 36 down to around 32psi.

I topped them all up at the weekend, and my fuel economy is back up to mid 50s for my commute.

Re: Sat-nav oddities

I much prefer Waze running through Android Auto. I've been using it for a couple of months now as a beta tester (and for years on my phone when it was still legal) and it's much better than the built-in sat nav. No news on Car Play support for Waze so if you have an iPhone then I don't recommend it ...

Re: Key fob battery

Button cell batteries can discharge very rapidly if touched with bare hands during the replacement phase. That could drastically reduce their life.

I recommend using tissue paper to handle the new ones.

Seat comfort

I've had my Niro First Edition since the end of April and it's ticked most of the boxes for me in terms of needs. The one big issue it has is an uncomfortable front passenger seat. The driver's seat has lumbar adjustment but it's still not great and needs a lot of fiddling with to find a comfortable...
