Re: New Owner

I came from a diesel Kuga & as with you decided diesel was not an option. The choice was down to a petrol Tiguan or a Niro. Owing to VW's inability to deliver (or even give a build date) the Niro was what we went for. I do not miss diesel or the smelly pumps one bit!!

Re: Niro vs Toyota C-HR

Interesting comparison. We looked at a CHR & a new shape Prius when we were first looking (before the PHEV was released so if we got a Niro then it would have been a 1st Edition / Niro 4) and the CHR rear seats were totally impractical for our needs (coming from a Kuga as we had outgrown our Foc...

Re: BULB UPGRADE A SAFE THING TO DO?

Standard HB3 bulbs are also 60w so I cannot see any difference in regards to the car's electrics / systems. I have been running Osram Nightbreakers HB3 in my Niro for over a year with no issues. The Cool Blue & Nightbreakers also are ECE approved so there should be no insurance issues, I chose t...

Re: Economy??

I have swapped my 16" Michelin Energy tyres to 16" Michelin Cross Climate tyres which are great in all weather conditions and to my ears quieter than the original tyres, but as I changed them after about 1000 miles, I'm not sure how much they affect the economy.

Re: Economy??

It will make a massive difference this time of year on journeys of less than 15 miles especially if your car is not garaged as the engine will run on my PHEV for quite a time & all it is doing is warming & demisting the interior. Significant standing water / slush has reduced my Motorway EV ...

Re: Trip computer and long term Fuel Economy Calculation

Agreed. I let my full one to reset on fillups and it can be 5-10mpg out either way. I do a Fuelly comparison and have been running that for just under 17000 miles in 13 months & my overall average is 87.7. Currently going for my 2nd at least 1000 miles on a tank on the trot which I will live wit...

Re: What Niro to choose?

I've been demisting using cold air on the driveway at home and during the drive. It's very effective, but I do leave the steering wheel and seats warming for a few minutes with the keys in the ignition (watching from the house of course...) so it's toasty as soon as I move off. There's no tell-tale...

Re: Fuel Consumption (PHEV)

Imagine what a petrol car would do on a 2 mile journey if you've spent 10 minutes stationary to defrost. I Guess it will be about the same as running the petrol engine of the Niro for 10 minutes to defrost, and then using it for the 2 minute journey to keep the cabin de-iced. If Renault could provi...

Re: Fuel Consumption (PHEV)

Imagine what a petrol car would do on a 2 mile journey if you've spent 10 minutes stationary to defrost. Agreed, I do miss the electric heating as an ex Zoe owner and preheat while on charge is the best thing ever!!!! However with an Outlander PHEV you have to spend 40k before you get electric heati...
