First Impressions of Niro 2

I have compiled a report summarising my first impressions of my new Niro 2. It was done principally to post on a forum I moderate based in Australia. The Niro has yet to arrive there and the forum members wanted an unbiased report on the car and some technical data that KIA do not publish. It's too ...

Re: Battery In The Boot

There is a combined starter/generator which is connected by a drive belt to the engine. The belt has a service life of 40 to 80,000 miles depending on the territory. I have read that in the Middle East it is 20,000 miles due to the sandy environment. For the USA market there is not a 12 volt standar...

Power Train Technical Stuff

I have been scouring the web for more technical information about the Ioniq and Niro with some success. I found this info on a USA web site – hence economy is for US gallons, http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v308/AlanHo1937/KIA%20Forum/Niro%201.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v308/AlanHo1937/...

Re: Battery In The Boot

Everything except for the hybrid motor. I understand from one of the magazine road tests that the Niro retains a 12v starter motor. There is a possibility that there isn't a conventional alternator - the 12v battery may be charged from the Hybrid 240V battery via a regulator. I am curious myself but...

Re: Spare Wheel

Your Ceed wheel fitting dimensions are 5 studs @ 114mm pitch circle with 50 mm offset

The Niro is 5 studs at 114 pitch circle with 40 mm offset.

Information taken from http://tinyurl.com/hwgq3zv

If correct the Ceed wheel will not fit.

Re: digital speedometer

My question is whether the speed display is accurate - most cars are calibrated to exaggerate the speed by a few percent. Hence when it shows say 60 mph you are actually only doing 56 mph etc. When my Niro arrives, I will be checking the speedo against my Garmin Sat Nav and my GPS head up display wh...

Re: Full size spare

if you buy a spare wheel you will also have to fit it with a compatible TPMS sensor will you not!

And will this be automatically detected when fitted to the car ?

Re: Full size spare

It is a safe bet that the storage tray and inflation kit have to be removed. I have checked the well dimensions in the showroom and there is room only for the wheel.

I can't answer about the retaining bolt.

Re: Fuel consumption

I'm getting 62mpg!!! Car computer very accurate so I won't bother with logging my expenditure in future. ....... May I ask how you have proved that the car computer is very accurate. I have had 5 new cars in the last 9 years - and not one of them were. My present Venga's trip recorder is 6.5% optim...
