Re: Current Car?
Totaled my Hyundai IX35 1.7 before Christmas it was a well spec’d car but it was a diesel, the right car for 5 years ago but not for now. I put the insurance pay out in a savings a/c whilst I decided what to buy and bought an ancient one owner from new Ford Ka from my sister in law. Primitive car bu...

Re: Etiquette
Like you I would be interested to hear as I am contemplating a PHEV. My gut reaction is that a minimum of an hour would be OK, time for a coffee & something to eat at a motorway service area or to go shopping must be acceptable. Also, how many chargers? Wonder how the etiquette thing works when ...

Re: PHEV charging cable
A comment for Brian, I note your reasons for using a 13amp supply, given the cost of the long cable run. Of you are retiring at the end of the year and not having to get up at the crack of dawn then you may find your 13amp socket proves adequate for charging. But what if the cabling to that socket i...

Re: Insurance policy renewal - timing
I would say an absolute minimum of 3 weeks and preferably earlier as some insurers will give you a quote valid for the next xx months. So even if they put their premiums up in the meantime they will honour your quote (as long as you do not have an accident or traffic offence in that period). Its a s...

Re: Spare wheel
Maybe maybe not. It all depends on the seating. I used to think that you always needed different wheelnuts but perhaps it is more complicated. It is the shape of the shoulder that matters and how it spreads the load on the face of the wheel. https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/askhj/answer/47889/can-i-inte...

Re: Satnav updates
Thanks Old Salt, I note the carefully crafted wording. Now that the French conceal speed cameras as all manor of things you would struggle to recognise some of them in daylight let alone in the rain and dark one has to be ever more vigilent. At least when they warn of a radar ahead they are not bluf...

Unless you are in France in which case you MUST not use the speed camera alert!

Re: Sat Nav Lat/Long
Presumably a feature for overseas where they often have less specific post codes than we use in the UK? Has anyone used this feature to input co-ordinates for a destination in France?
I am interested because that is a Country I visit.

Re: Split decision
Insurance costs, your own insurer may do somethng different but this is taken from another thread. The Phev is in the middle at group 13. Costs more to insure than the lower models but then it is a balance between being a more expensive vehicle but perceived as safer? Just look at the group rating f...

Re: Freezing weather
Years ago I had a Chrysler Alpine (that period between Rootes & Peugeot). One winter day the door seals froze on all four passenger doors, I had to climb in via the rear hatch which still opened. Moisture is the enemy. I guess that screen de icer spray would have solved your predicament without ...
