Adaptive cruise control

Does anyone know if the brake lights come on when the adaptive cruise control causes the car to significantly slow down? A car pulled in front of me today, and braked, and then the cruise control kicked in and my car slowed down quite noticeably. I didn't touch the brake pedal so the brake light sw...

Re: Keeping a smart key safe

I can't believe the keys are transmitting all the time. The button battery would not last very long at all. More likely there is an RFID tag in the key fob that the car detects when you are close. That makes more sense, so the car must be transmitting something to activate the passive RFID chip. Pr...

Re: Battery level meter

The current Niro seems to have a battery management system that fastidiously keeps the charge level between 40-60%, in my limited experience of three weeks' ownership. All well and good if this to protect and maximise the life of the battery. But, how will this work when the plug-in hybrid arrives, ...

Re: Keeping a smart key safe

I'm in the same boat as you, but I'm not taking any particular measures apart from taking the keys upstairs at night. Whether thieves are after Niros when there are BMWs, Mercs etc. to be had ? The key is apparently transmitting all the time, it's amazing that there are devices that can read the tra...

Mudflaps

The mudflaps fitted to my Niro as a dealer option are tiny, and seem to be ineffective judging by the dirt that accumulates on the tailgate. Anyone else have any comments?

Re: Starting without pressing the break pedle

If you have an ignition key, there are four positions: 1) Off 2) Accessory 3) Ignition 4) start - It doesn't matter whether you're pressing the brake pedal or not. If you have a push button, there are three positions if you DON'T press the brake pedal: 1) Off 2) Accessory 3) Ignition and these will ...

Re: SATNAV speed camera warning

The satnav gets its data from an SD card that contains a "snapshot" of all speed cameras that were known when the data was written to the SD card. However, if you want live updates from TomTom, then the satnav has to be connected to a mobile phone wireless hotspot for live speed cameras an...

Re: Swap privacy glasses for free

Not sure of your logic, Gabriel. It seems you're willing to pay for replacing all the rear windows in two cars, glass for free, against replacing the windows in one car plus cost of new plain glass. Suspect the latter is cheaper, much less hassle.

Hand/foot brake

Amongst all the wonderful technology, what on earth are Kia doing fitting a "handbrake" seemingly straight off a Massey Ferguson tractor? The ratchet sound can't be silenced, and the pedal is so high you have to lift your leg up so your knee is almost as high as the steering wheel! Total e...
