Re: Battery level meter
Never had battery indication below half, but have had it at maximum once. All I can say is that there was a smell that I associate with components getting hot.

Re: Mudflaps
I believe that LRR tyres have a tread pattern of circumferential grooves leading to less displacement of water sideways as a result, leaving more water to be whisked up in the turbulence at the rear of the car. Possibly tread depth is shallower than other tyres too?

Re: Mudflaps
Generally I have seen little benefit to mud flaps, but I've just driven through some fresh white paint on the road. Fortunately I've got most of it off, but mud flaps might have kept more of it off the sill. As it is only my second encounter with random paint in a lifetime's motoring I cannot make a...

Re: New member
Acquiring a Niro all started last year when I saw how the diesel saga might play out. Wanted to trade the diesel whilst I could still get a decent offer. Looked at the petrol sportage but the emission figures were high and possibly might also begin to be penalised. This is when I began to look at th...

Re: New First Edition
83mpg is the best we've had here. You'll have to let us know a few of the tricks. There's a mileage chat in the main forum, and there's a discussion about how to prepare the car if you are not going to use it for several weeks - all experience welcome.

Re: Waiting game
Since writing about the braking 'surge', I've been back to the hill for a couple of checks. Now obviously I don't want to take any risks, so the check is a bit curtailed, but it seems better. I'm making a huge assumption that the cause was the electric motor dropping out of the braking cycle at low ...

Re: Waiting game
Not sure about telling anyone what makes a good car for them, it's always a very individual choice. I like that it is a SUV first and a hybrid second, that it is quiet and relaxing to drive, and that I'm getting 55mpg - 66 mpg in normal suburban usage. Now that I've 'run it in', I'm using the 'power...
