Re: PHEV2 & Economy 7

Not necessarily a typo. Electricity retailers buy wholesale energy in blocks and for “old style” customers where the shape of consumption is assumed between day and night, they will price accordingly. However when the shape between day and night is known, the retailer can set prices cheaper overnigh...

Re: New Kia 2016 owner & infotainment upgrade question

I took delivery of my Niro 2 in mid-2017, so I suspect it is the same hardware build as yours. It does indeed recognise / have Apple CarPlay. I can’t say if the upgrade is possible from home or needs a dealer though. I seem to remember the topic having been discussed on the board before / people hav...

Air conditioning dead

So... the car has been parked for a couple of weeks. I’ve started it occasionally but only yesterday did I first go out and do a few miles, having been at home for a fortnight, out one evening to get groceries, then home again for another week. Upsettingly, given the warm weather, no cold air from t...

Electrification of transport

So... a year to go until it will be time for me to decide what car to get as the replacement for my current Niro 2 HEV. Since we fairly recently bought a Ford Kuga which can be used for family trips, if necessary. We also had solar panels installed at home a while back, which don’t output huge amoun...

Temporary electrical gremlin?

I had a couple of worrying but seemingly temporary electrical gremlins today, in close succession. Firstly, shortly after starting a journey, with outside temperature about 8 centigrade, I got to a set of traffic lights. We had walked up a hill before getting into the car so were not cold and instea...

Re: Engine running in EV mode

I have a similar issue (fuel degradation) but in a very different application - I sporadically use a petrol chainsaw but if left with pump petrol in the tank over the winter, the different components of the fuel can combine with small quantities of water to form gel / sludge. If I was driving a PHEV...

Re: Hello

It’s an interesting query - the division of the company I work for was recently sold to new owners, plus my role changed about a year ago. The combination of these things has meant that I’ve moved from a company which offered a wide range of choice for cars, plus having a role where taking a company...

Re: Hello

Also, I think the standard fit tyres are types / brands between the 16 and 18 inch wheels, no? If so that would have to be a factor in the tyre life as well.
