Re: Lead time/waiting time

I think I posted these comments before. When I went into my local Kia dealer, end of June to order a PHEV I was told this was not possible. The dealer showed on her computer the official message from Kia dated APRIL telling dealers that orders suspended awaiting an update. Seems to me that any deale...

See another parallel thread,

Have not got to the bottom of it but I gather a product announcement on updated models is due. That might explain the delays with the current PHEV?

Re: Considering buying the phev

Interesting! I saw the message from Kia on the dealers screen and have no reason to doubt its authenticity, saying that dealers are not to take orders for PHEV versions pending a news release in July.

Hopefully whatever comes out in the next press release will clarify.

Re: Considering buying the phev

I had a quote from CarWow back in May for a PHEV at a really good discount but the dealereship was rubbish. Today with the offer valid until end of June I went into my local dealer to see if they would price match. The dealer showed me a release from Kia to say all sales of PHEV suspended, pending r...

Re: Downhill battery full charge causes engine noise

That comment about engine breaking makes sense. If the battery will accept charge then the action of using the motor to charge the battery will act to retard the car. However once the battery is charged you no longer have that braking effect and for safety sake need the engine. I would guess that wi...

Re: Charging PHEV with ZAPPY

I raised this on another thread. Too many threads here with overlap of content. Like you I am investigating this option, In winter useless but at this time of year this option seems quite sensible if you are at home in the day to take advantage and it costs no more than a conventional charger.

Re: Using Economy 7 electricity to charge Niro PHEV

I can live with that, charge the car or put the washing machineon, 1 when the rate is at its cheapest or 2 when the solar PV on the roof are providing free electricity (in summer)

I understand Nissan are working on this concept of putting energy back from the car into the grid.

Re: Using Economy 7 electricity to charge Niro PHEV

Economy 7 was originally brought out to fit in with nuclear, which runs 24/7. But then as long as it is windy so do wind turbines!

Re: Hi all

Apparently it is only the UK version that is not certified for use with a towbar. Perhaps they did not see a market in the UK sufficient to pay the costs involved for obtaining type approval. Your car probably has the fixing points mapped out as I guess that all Niros have the same floor plan, just ...

Re: Michelin Cross Climate - fuel economy impact?

I had two cross climates fitted to the rear of my wifes Fiesta in January. The tyre fitter considered the combination safe. I then had the two fronts replaced 3 weeks ago. I would certainly not have mixed tyre types on the same axle. Car behaved on the combination through the bad weather in March. A...
