Re: Car starter external batteries
PhilB, thanks for the post. Not much point having the booster pack in the boot! Just been out and put the booster and extension lead under the driver's seat. Have found the + ve terminal in the fuse box. Is the -ve connection the bolt in the silver mount with 'HEV' engraved in it?

Re: Car starter external batteries
I've just ordered a booster too. No idea if it will work with the hybrid system, but happy to try it if the event arises. I'm guessing that as the two battery systems are separate it will be like a normal car.

Re: MY18 build date
Looking for a battery booster many of the reviews stated that it is the amp rating that is important not the voltage.

Re: Real world fuel economy

Re: MY18 build date
I've been mulling over getting a battery booster for weeks. Today I have ordered one, though I'm not sure how it might work in practice, it's better than being helpless.

Re: MY18 build date
I've read a general report about Li-polymer batteries having 8 cells, six for the hybrid function plus two for the replacement lead-acid functions. Currently I think there may be a problem with the lead-acid battery losing charge if doing frequent short journeys in congested traffic. Two questions f...

Re: Brake Pads Wear
I'm waiting to hear what others find on their first services. Either it is a technician just completing a report without thinking or there is a problem.

Re: Brake Pads Wear
That might be possible, but my experience with Kia has been more 'precise' than that, and it was not my experience with the Sportage. Now if it was VW I'd expect some guesstimates.

Brake Pads Wear
Had my first service yesterday. I have only done 1,640 miles. I received a video report this morning which says the brake pads are 40% worn. I'm not pleased.

Re: Key fob battery
I have a suspicion that the charge level of the lead acid battery in the boot also affects the unlocking. At one point I was needing to operate the key fob several times to get the car to unlock. Changed my weekly routine to add an extra 5 miles to my longest journey and the fob them operated OK.
