Re: Connected services with BT Wifi and no smartphone
@ Hopp :. So you're able to drive around and enjoy connected services because the car's system is connecting to the different BT WiFi hotspots. Must try it with Sky!

Automatic lights
I've noticed that the automatic lights come on during the day when there is bright sunshine. The sun is low in the sky, being Winter, and I'm wondering if it is somehow fooling the sensor on the dashboard. No problems when overcast, indeed I'm surprised they don't come on earlier in such conditions....

Re: Connected services with BT Wifi and no smartphone
To use connected services, you have to connect to the internet using a device. So far, you have connected at home using your BT WiFi whilst it is in range. Once on the move, you will go out of its range and lose your connection. So, you need a mobile device, either a smartphone, or a mifi dongle, ei...

Re: Boot still locked
When you are in the car, are you locking the doors from the inside using the lock button on the driver door armrest? If you are, then when you exit the car the doors will unlock, but not the boot. If you don't lock the doors from the inside, then they, and the boot, will remain unlocked, perhaps exp...

Re: Foot Parking Brake
I have had this type of parking break in 2 previous SUV's, a Hyundai Santa Fe and a Kia Sorento. I now have it in my Niro, for me it gives an uncluttered centre console area. And lets be honest, you disengage it once at the start of your journey and once at the end of it. It isn't that noisy in the...

Re: Foot Parking Brake
@Bigtone....the foot parking brake in a Merc and BMW is a sophisticated automatic system, not a noisy ratchet tractor pedal as per the Niro. I have no issue with it being floor-mounted, but why have such a crude system?

Re: Split decision
The HEV very fastidiously protects its battery, always keeping charge level between 30-80%, presumably to maximise its life? The PHEV's battery is at the mercy of its owner who will regularly charge it to 100%.... good job there's a 7 year warranty.

Re: Groaning of parking brake
I would agree with Old Salt, the wheel disc is turning slightly against the pads that are not pressed tightly enough. Press the pedal a bit harder. I'm intrigued to know the relevance of raining and driving into your garage. Does it not do it when it's dry and you park outside your garage?
