Re: PHEV Charging

Thanks for the suggestions Topicalcat. I have solar panels. Today is a bright sunny day, I don't need to use my car this morning....but I put it on charge overnight without thinking , so I paid unnecessarily for the electricity. I've got to get used to the forward thinking required.

Re: PHEV Charging

Thanks Guys, As I'm not based in Scotland (or Wales), I think I shall continue using the standard 13A socket for now, and review the decision if I find the charge time to be impractical, The standard cable reaches a socket in my garage when the car is parked in the drive, so I don't have to worry ab...

PHEV Charging

I've had my ex-demo PHEV for a few days now, but as it isn't new, the Kia dealership couldn't arrange the home charge point for me. Actually they told me that as of last week, Kia won't subsidise the home charge point for new purchases either. So far, I've been charging using the so called "gra...

Re: Niro DashCam install

I use the fitting which is a cigar lighter type in front of the gear lever for my front dash cam and the usb in the center console for my rear camera. Both turn off when ignition is turned off. . Where did you mount the camera and how did you route the cablefor the front dash to keep it out of the ...

Re: Hello

I received my PHEV just a couple of days ago It was handed over without any electric charge (the dealer's charge point was out of action due to major on-site building works - so he had an excuse.). It averaged 58.9 MPG according to the trip computer while I drove it home. Since then I've recharged i...

Re: Hello

Thanks Tony, Your observations re the PHEV are not inconsistent with mine from two reasonably lengthy test drives. My test of a 2 was much shorter but it seemed to crash over the imperfections in the road a lot more, and I couldn't get the seat comfortable. That MPG display in your attachment is qui...

Re: Audio system losing DAB radio

USB adaptors cause problems with other cars too. I have a DS5 and I had to buy several different adaptors before I could reliably use the DAB while running a dashcam. The adaptors contain a 12V to 5V DC to DC to DC convertor which works by rapidly chopping the signal so it is off 7/12 of the time an...

Re: When to use HEV setting rather than EV ?

I had been puzzling over the same, and I think Suman has put you onto the right track. However, I think that there is more to it than just fuel economy. It is probably a good idea to save the electric power for town driving to reduce exhaust pollution in the built up areas. I wonder also if there ar...

Hello

I'm on the verge of ordering a Niro. Wavering between the PHEV and the 3 or 4 with down-sized wheels. What is the difference in performance with the larger electric motor in real-world driving terms? I'm currently driving a DS5 with a 2 litre turbo diesel , but am about to retire and want to downsiz...
