Finally took the plunge today and ordered one in blue, should be here in 2 weeks which was much quicker than expected. There is only a single model offered over here which is similar in spec to a Niro 3 in the UK so supply doesn't seem to be as bad as other countries. I looked at the Ioniq Hybrid, Prius, C-HR and the Niro. The Ioniq was nice enough but the interior felt quite cheap in comparison to the Niro (its slightly more expensive than the Niro here in Ireland and yet has cloth seats vs the leather in the Niro).
The C-HR looks nicer, IMO, but sacrifices a lot of space and light in the back compared to the Niro. The CVT hybrid system was not great to drive either, much less smooth and engaging than the Niro. I found the CVT in the Prius much better (even though its the same as the C-HR) but otherwise the whole styling, inside and out, was a bit too extreme for my tastes. So the Niro was the hands down winner and I can't wait to pick it up in a few weeks!
Another New Niro in Ireland
Yes, and I'm becoming obsessed with trying to get it to stay on EV mode as much as possible to the point where there is a trail of traffic behind me because I'm trying not to ride the accelerator! I normally have tree on screen but yet to receive the coveted 8 out of 8 score when driving but normally a 7.
I've yet to see another Niro on the road; on my way to collect mine, I saw one - but it turned out it was my one being brought to the local Topaz for its first tank of petrol.
I've got 5.3l/100km (18-19l/km but it always seems to be improving) but at the start it was barely getting under 7. Also keen to get Apple CarPlay - I've been told dealers will be able to do the upgrade by the end of Feb.
I've seen a few CHRs around, the boot is tiny alright but I'd have been interested otherwise!

Thanks for the info. How long have you had yours for now? I've had mine 2 weeks and the fuel efficiency seems to be improving also but still averaging around the 17.5km/l mark (5.7 l/100km). I'm yet to do a decent long drive in it yet and the weather has been colder recently.
I heard some people saying they are getting better fuel efficiency engaging Sport and then 6th gear on highways. Control Cruise activated, 80mph, 80 mile long.Daithi wrote:Thanks for the info. Looks like Niro gears down very often on Drive, maybe trying to keep torque, so he drinks more fuel.
I must try that, I was only saying to someone today I hope the ECU upgrade changes the point at which the higher gears are engaged. Moving from 110 to 120 leads to a big jump in fuel consumption!
Daithi; I have mine since 12 Jan, drove Dublin-Macroom and Dublin-Killarney in the first two weeks and worked out well!
