Insurance costs, your own insurer may do somethng different but this is taken from another thread. The Phev is in the middle at group 13. Costs more to insure than the lower models but then it is a balance between being a more expensive vehicle but perceived as safer? Just look at the group rating for the Mini hybrid which is group 26 to make you feel good about wanting a Kia!

“Group ratings for cars are assigned by Thatcham, the insurers research centre at would you believe it Thatcham near Newbury. The ‘4’ has an insurance group rating of 12, the ‘3’ has a group rating of 14 so the advisary group ratings compiled by Thatcham do reflect the benefits of autonomous braking, so your ‘4’ should be cheaper to insure than a ‘3’. The ‘1’, ‘2’ & ‘4’ are group 12, the ‘3’ is 14 and the PHEV is 13. The group ratings are an evaluation of repair costs and performance and other factors as explained here,

I guess range particularly in warmer seasons should improve and maybe in EV mode too it will be possible to keep up with normal traffic acceleration?
Three questions , 1 does the PHev accept a standard charger cable or has its own adapter connector for charging?
2 Are there any deals about to narrow the cost difference between the Hybrid and the Phev?
3 Are Insurance costs for both versions roughly the same ?

Sorry for the delay in answering.

1 You get two cables one for a 13A socket. NB You should not use an extension lead it has to be plugged in directly. There is also a cable for using with a wall box or a public charger. When we were buying retail purchases included a free wall box.

2 Not sure on that, my findings were similar to the other poster of under £20 a month difference to a 3 with ADAP added.

3 Insurance costs were really much of a muchness with only 1 - 2 groups difference

To my understanding, aircon can work off the EV battery, it is just heating that cannot.
