New to Kia

Just bought myself a new Kia Niro2 HEV. So far I am loving it no major issues to report. Couple of minor niggles including the pooling of dirt around the end of the wiper arm obscuring the rear view camera and around the boot door handle. But other than that all good so far.

Hi fatharrywhite.
Glad you are enjoying it.
The accumulation of traffic film particularly in wet weather is a continual nuisance on this car, where the rear window and the rear view camera is quickly blurred even after a short journey. The answer for the camera is an automatic lens cover like on compact cameras but no doubt it costs money!.

I've been wondering what shape of housing it would take to deflect enough airflow to stop or reduce the buildup of dirt and yet not obstruct the camera view. Of course, it may be impossible and a user-made solution would be difficult anyway.

The ideal answer would be like on the VW Golf where the camera is behind the badge and this flips up when the car goes into reverse returning to the closed position when in forward motion. KIA badge on tailgate ideally located to do the same unless VW have patented the technology.
