Starting without pressing the break pedle

i have had the Niro 2 weeks , and only noticed today , it started without pressing the break peddle , has anyone else noticed this , or do i have a fault ?

Thanks for letting me know Paddy .... Strange , as it does say in the manual ( For push button ) ... Press the break , but nothing for a key ... Just glad its not a fault , and i really love this car , far better than my old 61 plate ford kuga 163 .

Same here, started the car accidentally, without pressing the brake pedal.

Yes, mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, and the car started at moderately high revs. Then found pressing the brake pedal slowed the engine down even though stationary.

All the cars I've had previously, pressing the brake pedal has only been necessary when there's a push button start with keyless entry/go.

If you have an ignition key, there are four positions:
1) Off
2) Accessory
3) Ignition
4) start - It doesn't matter whether you're pressing the brake pedal or not.

If you have a push button, there are three positions if you DON'T press the brake pedal:
1) Off
2) Accessory
3) Ignition
and these will cycle with each press of the button, the hybrid system will not start.

Pressing the brake pedal and then pressing the button bypasses 2) and starts the hybrid system immediately.

As the car has projector headlights and use a HB3 light bulbs , i wanted to try LED HB3 ( 9005 ) headlight bulbs . so i ordered some from Ebay , and only cost £20 posted from the UK.... They look really nice , great light output , and as the Niro headlight uses a shutter for low beam , so there is no light scatter , and a perfect light beam . But you do have to modify the bulb cover , as LED headlight bulbs are quite big and stick out a bit ... Some have a fan to keep them cool , and some have a large heat sink ..... But these bulbs are all plug and play ... Hope that answers your question .

Yes I did thanks, but I don't fancy modifying the bulb cover, which I assume is the cap that screws onto the back of the housing and seals it.
