My Niro 4.

I've had cruise control for years and use it all the time.
Unfortunately when cruise control is selected it activates 'Smart Cruise Control' by default.
To select normal Cruise Control you have to hold the distance button for 2 seconds and then press select when Cruise control is displayed on the screen.
You have to do this every time the car is started.
Smart cruise control is great on major roads but in my view dangerous on normal or country roads.
Coming up to a bicycle (along the edge of the road} some days ago using Smart Cruise Control, my Niro slammed on the brakes - unexpected and a very scary.
Not appreciated by the car following me !

If there is a way to set Cruise Control as the default I would like to know how.

To be honest I am surprised you are using cruise control in situations where there are bicycles. Had you pulled out to pass? In Cornwall drivers have been getting tickets this summer for not passing pedestrians and cyclists at a safe distance.

The car slammed the breaks on more than a 100 yards before I could have reached the bike.
This is what smart cruise control is supposed to do.
And why it is such a safe car to drive -accidents are prevented this way.
