Just had my car serviced at a Kia dealer. I've put 10,000 miles on the clock in 6 months and so it was due a 20,000 service (£209). Dealer said it needed a pollen filter (claimed it's not included in service) and anti-bac "bomb" (£39 for both), which I got done to take me into the summer. They also said it could do with a front and rear brake clean (£57 for front and £57 for rear), which I didn't get done.

Questions for the forum. Are these typical prices?

I asked for quote for a service plan and they've quoted £1,000 in total for the below four future services. Does this seem reasonable? I'm not convinced since, especially as they asking for monthly direct debits and therefore they're getting paid the money before they deliver the service and they're guaranteed the money. I would thought they'd offer some price incentive.

What are your thoughts/experiences?

I paid £450 up front for 3 services seemed like a bargain to me

I've just had standard service 2 (20,000miles), and the invoice cost was £167 incl VAT, including brake fluid change. This seems to compare favourably with your £209.
i paid £780 for the Care-5 plan covering the first five services. Services 1, 2, 4 and 5 are minor services, service 3 is a major. So at £156 average, it seems to be a good deal, in line with John Pell above.
You are buying four services, two minor, (4 and 5), and two major (3 and 6) for £1,000, average £250 each.
Suggest a bit of shopping around.

Thanks. There’s one other Kia dealer where I live so sounds like I need to get a price from them.

I should have said that my service 2 was £209 including VAT, but didn’t include brake fluid change.

Brake fluid only needs changing every two years, mileage irrelevant. Your illustration shows annual change.

I have a March 2017 Niro, so I'm at 2 years. With my high mileage I will have two services in 2019.

AlanW55. Apologies I see what you mean about brake fluid. This dealer is very handy for me, whereas the other dealer in town is miles away and I don't like them; Arnold Clark! I guess I can use an independent garage as long as they use Kia parts, etc. to maintain the warranty.
