OK ....just supposing the car has shown you a low fuel warning earlier on in your trip , you are approx two miles now from the garage and the fuel runs out .....question is , will the battery take over as you have no petrol left and get you to the garage ??...hypothetical question maybe , but any answers or thoughts on it ??

Does battery power not operate at certain speeds and petrol for higher speeds ?

If not, then you would be on Petrol power because the battery power had run out, in which case you'll have no battery power remaining.

You would have to drive the car in such a way that the management system wouldn't try to start the engine. If you kept your foot off the accelerator, and just let it trundle along on battery power in first gear, you might be able to achieve the two miles you cite. I'm only surmising! If anything tried to start the engine, e.g. heating it might then act as a brake. You wouldn't have engine vacuum to assist the brakes, but this might not be critical at very low speed.
