Hi there
Having had my car for a few months now one question I've not had answered is around regenerative braking.
Do your brake lights come on when regenerative braking slows your car down?
Thanks in advance
Brake Lights
The brake lights come in in two circumstances:
1. When you press the brake pedal (also actuates regen braking)
2. When the brakes are applied by the adaptive cruise control.
So, although regenerative "braking" happens when you take your foot off the gas, it is not sufficient to cause the brake lights to come on. Normal IC engine braking doesn't actuate the brake lights either.

The Niro HEV4 has LH and RH paddles behind the steering wheel which are used to change gear when in Sport mode. These paddles double up as selectors for strength of regenerative braking when in Eco mode. There are four levels of regen. The brake light also comes on when the highest level of regen is selected and the car is slowing rapidly under magnetic braking. I'm guessing the brake lights might be activated by an accelerometer.

If you look at the regenerative, grey part of the display there is a thin bit to start, then it goes thick. As far as I can determine the brake lights come on (roughly) where you go into the thick part, whether through the foot brake or cruise control or whatever. This is also the point at which the brake pads start to be used as well as the regenerative braking.
