Brake Pads Wear
Had my first service yesterday. I have only done 1,640 miles. I received a video report this morning which says the brake pads are 40% worn. I'm not pleased.

That might be possible, but my experience with Kia has been more 'precise' than that, and it was not my experience with the Sportage. Now if it was VW I'd expect some guesstimates.

That's some seriously heavy braking wear. If standard service intervals are 10k miles then I would expect pads to last at least that distance. I average 13k miles/year and never had to replace pads between services. With other manufacturers the service interval is 20k - replacing pads 5 times in that period would seem excessive.

Omg
Never heard anything like that before
My brakes as a rule last 40k plus.
And reports say the niro should last longer as you can slow down with out touching the brakes i.e. Power back to battery's
Was trying to find a long term test in the USA I see
When I was on holiday 38k plus and no problem with brakeware

Hi Greenman. Just seen your post and am very surprised. Assume your regeneration is working ok?. Everyone has said , is expecting less brake wear not more but of course the first services are only coming through now.
Have you actually measured the pads yourself. I would be tempted to take a wheel off and look. I am sure one of the forum can tell us new pad dimensions. h2onorth

I'm waiting to hear what others find on their first services. Either it is a technician just completing a report without thinking or there is a problem.
