Hi,

For a few weeks I have heard quite a loud sound of starting the car on a hot engine. I also hear this when I turn off the internal combustion engine and switch to electric mode. It is quite a short sound (squeak).
This sound does not occur when the engine is cold after a long standstill.

Below is recorded noise from my Niro:

Which model have you got? I assume it is the plug-in version? As the autonomous version would start a hot engine in ev.

I have HEV 2017 version, not PHEV. That sound appeared some weeks ago and it annoys me very much ;/

it's about the sound of the 10th and 11th second of the recording

Ok, there is no way you can turn off the ic engine and switch to electric manually the engine management system works the two as an integrated system. Tell me in more detail what you are doing to get this noise.

Hi,

The problem occurs when the car is warmed up.

It is noticeable in two situations:

1. When starting the engine
2. During automatic switching from an internal combustion engine to an electric one while driving

Both points are heard when the car is warmed, mainly when driving a few kilometers at a higher speed (the same noise as presented in the previous step)

It does seem to indicate the electric motor. As a transmission problem would equally affect the ic engine. Nothing much on the web, one other possible similar problem. No responses here for people with the same problem. Can only suggest a trip to the service centre to check the electric engine function and mounting.
