Evening all,

Signed up to the forum to view everyone’s thoughts on the HEV and PHEV versions of the Niro before I placed a deposit on an e-Niro (first edition as that’s all you can get) last November. The order for the car was placed last week as soon as the order book opened.

I am in the lucky position to be the first person at the dealership to put an order in and I’m guaranteed one of the first to arrive in April. I’ve chosen gravity blue as I’m a bit bored of black, white and shades of grey / silver.

Some context around the choice: I currently drive a 61 plate diesel insignia on 95k miles and a relatively new job means I do 130 miles a day. Before the insignia croaks I need a replacement and electric was the obvious choice. I just needed a car with good enough range and here I am. I’m not a fan of the Kona’s look, hence my choice.

Anyway, looking forward to April and jumping on the EV wagon. Lots of good info on here.

Welcome!
As you'll probably be the first EV owner here, I am sure that there will be plenty of interest in your experiences in buying and owning the car.

Dealer’s demonstrator arrived today. According to the dealer all the demonstrators are leased to the dealerships to avoid them selling them on and all will return to HQ.

I’m going to be taking it for an hour on Friday and will report back. I’ll try and grab a few cheeky photos too.

My order is still guaranteed for quarter 2. No firm delivery date currently. I’ve been promised an update on Friday so I’ll see where we’re at then.

What charging arrangements have you set up at home? Believe it takes all night on a 7kw charger, and two days for a three-pin plug!

I’ll be getting a 7kw charger installed.

By my calculation it should take ~5hrs to put enough charge in for my daily commute. Just switched energy deal to Octopus go which gives 4 hours a night at £0.05 per kWh. It’ll cost me £2.40 to do my 130 mile commute each day with the added bonus of not having to visit petrol stations every week!

Went out in the demo for about an hour. Really nice drive. Little on the firm side which I’m used to and is fine.

Regen is very intuitive with the paddles. One pedal driving definitely achievable once you get used to it. Power and acceleration is out of this world, especially in sport mode. Absolute lightning from a standing start.

Nice equipment, seats are good, boot decent size, room in the back even in my driving position (6’1”). All in all a lovely car to drive with everything you could want.

I grabbed a few photos.

Got a call from dealership that my E-Niro will be with me by the end of the month. The issue is there aren’t enough gravity blue cars to go round so I took one in graphite grey. Not a big deal for me and I blagged mud guards and mats as compensation.

They’ve ordered a gravity blue for me and I’ll get to decide if I want it when it arrives, part exing mine in. We’ll see how that plays out...

According to the dealer the waiting list is 14 months and the price has or will shortly go up by nearly £1k for any new orders placed. He did mention the order books are closed but that’s not what I’ve read.

Looking forward to getting it now. Fingers crossed my old insignia doesn’t die on me over the next couple of weeks!
