Is KIA monitoring these vehicles?

The other day I was driving across the city and my 2018 Niro HEV turned over the 30,000 km mark. Within moments I had a phone call from "the dealer", although they never specified which, instructing me that it was time to book a service appointment. Did she get a signal from my car? Did it freeload on my phone's mobile network connection?
Did you have a conversation with this "dealer"? (were you actually talking to a person). If not, I suspect the car's computer is using your phone (god knows how! Bluetooth? WiFi?) to transmit a pre-recorded message. Neither has happened to me in the UK.
